In a city, a Harijan settlement was set on fire, resulting in the deaths of two people. After that, similar incidents kept occurring in many villages. In a country where the teachings of saints have flourished for centuries, why do such incidents still happen even twenty-five years after gaining independence? Why should they happen at all?

Reflecting on this sorrow and questioning these injustices, I traveled from village to village, gathering details. From this journey, Samidha was born.
